Three years before his execution, he agrees to chat with journalist Bitsey Bloom, played by Kate. After speaking to him, the journalist decides to investigate his case. Winslet did a convincing portrayal of Bitsey but the film failed to impress the critics. The Life of David Gale largely went unnoticed except for Kate’s performance. It also performed badly at the box office. Some critics said it was an exaggerated melodrama, some called it an overripe melodrama.
